Description:
The Marlin 1895 chambers only the most powerful cartridges such the 45-70 and the 450 Marlin, the latter of which this rifle is chambered for. The Model 1895M is a big game carbine version that uses an 18.5” ported barrel. The rifle also features a finely made, straight-grip wood stock and forend. Another characteristic worth noting is the “JM” on the barrel, indicating that this a true Marlin rather than the newer “Remlins” as the newer rifles have been nicknamed since Remington acquired Marlin in 2008. The rifle has little to no wear except for a small dent on the rear right side of the forearm, and this can be steamed out easily. Its obvious the rifle has not seen a great deal of use. The bore is very clean, and the action is very tight. The forearm and stock are made of finely checkered wood. The magazine tube holds 4 rounds. To keep down recoil, the 1895M utilizes a rubber recoil pad and a ported barrel. The porting vents expanding gases upward as a counter-recoil force to keep the barrel down. The 1895M would make an excellent backup rifle for use when trekking through the woods, particularly where dangerous (CPX4 class) game is present.
