Description:
This original .58 caliber Colt - 1862 - 3-Band musket has a tapered round 1-1/8" to 3/4" x 40" barrel with 1:56 twist and fitted with a three leaf rear sight. The once highly polished barrel has gathered patina over the years. Strong rifling is seen in the bore with a patch of scattered pitting 6" from the muzzle. Stamped on the top of the barrel is 1862 and on the left flat EF Steel. The P grade Walnut stock is fitted with steel furniture. Two inspector's cartouches are stamped behind the rear lock bolt. DAP has been stamped in the butt stock just ahead of the butt plate comb. The large military style lock has 1862 Colt's PTFA Mfg Co Hartford CT stamped on the plate. The bolster is stamped with a Spread Eagle. Complete with sling swivels and metal ramrod. Length of pull is 13-1/2", overall length is 55-1/2", weight is 8 lbs. Please Note: The stock is sound with the exception of a crack on the left side of the butt stock and scattered usage dents and dings. Factory wood to metal fit - made by Colt, Hartford, CT.
