ENGRAVED 1850s Antique Percussion POCKET Pistol
Mid-19th Century Single Shot Self Defense Pistol
Here we present an antique Single Shot Percussion Pocket Pistol, made circa 1850. This would have been intended for self-defense carry in a pocket. The frame, barrel, underside, and trigger guard are nicely engraved. The grip is solid walnut. The frame and barrel are both marked with a “6”. In its day, this little single shot percussion would have been purchased to be carried in a vest pocket or within the muff of a dignified lady!
The overall condition is good. The iron surfaces have a gray patina. The pattern on the barrel is still present. The engraving and other markings are clear. The wooden grip is well-worn. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is functional though the trigger return spring is weak and the trigger needs to be pushed forward during the cocking process.
