“P. BOND” Marked Antique FLINTLOCK Pocket Pistol
Small British Flintlock Pistol for Early 19th Century Defense
Here we present an antique English Philip Bond Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late 1700s or early 1800s. Philip John Joseph Bond was a Gunmaker and Sword Cutler whose manufactory was located at 45 Cornhill in London, England, and was an active gunmaker from 1794 until his death in 1816. The left side of the frame has “P. Bond” engraved and the right side has “No 45 Cornhill London”. The bottom of the trigger guard is engraved with a flower and two arrows pointing toward the flower. There is a faint proof mark next to the flower. This pistol was made during the Napoleonic era and maybe carried by a soldier going off to war! This would have been a great little concealed carry gun in the late 18th or early 19th century!
The overall condition is good. The iron parts are dark with age. The markings are clear. The walnut grip is smooth and solid. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is functional. Here is a great little 200+ year old flintlock pistol!
