If you have been looking for a nice lightly used Belgian Browning BAR for your collection or for shooting purposes this rifle would be an excellent choice. This Belgian made classic is considered one of the finest semi-auto rifle designs ever devised. The BAR quickly earned a reputation for being very well-made, very attractive in design, reliable, and a supremely accurate rifle regardless of the type of action. This particular example chambered in .30-06 Springfield is a very attractive rifle with just some light exterior finish wear but pristine internals. This BAR has obviously been carried afield a few times over the last 51 years but actually has been fired very very little. The original gloss blue finish has a very attractive patina to it with some high edge wear and few small spots of discoloration from cleaning off surface rust on the receiver, but no major wear or damage. The original black finish on the alloy triggerguard and magazine floorplate is in beautiful condition and rates 99% with only a few very tiny chips in it. The original factory gloss blue finish on the barrel is nearly perfect, rating 97%. This Browning BAR has a 22" inch barrel with a perfect bore and the factory iron sights are still intact, including the front sight hood, and in perfect working order. The rifling still has nice sharp lands and grooves, and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind. The original Walnut stock set with hand-cut checkering is in excellent condition overall. The checkering is still clean and crisp, and both the forearm and buttstock are completely free from cracks, chips, or repairs. The factory installed sling swivel studs are in great shape, and the butt has not been altered on this BAR, still wearing the original factory black Browning-branded buttplate. The length of pull on this BAR is 13 & 7/8ths inches to the end of the buttplate. As mentioned earlier, this rifle is really in like-new condition mechanically, and the bolt moves nice and smooth with precision into battery. All of the controls on this rifle work 100% like the day it left the factory. The original 4-round factory box magazine is still with the rifle and is in excellent condition with strong spring pressure still on the follower. The .30-06 Springfield chambering of this Browning BAR really is a perfect match to this rifle design and makes for an great handling and versatile rifle. There is a huge variety of factory loaded ammunition available in .30-06 to tailor your ammunition to the exact quarry you are hunting, as well as match-grade target loads. All this 1968 Belgian Browning BAR needs is a high quality scope and some mounts and it would make the perfect hunting rifle for North American big game and game all over the world.
