Description:
You are buying a beautifully preserved (not restored) Winchester model 1886 in outstanding condition. This one is in the popular but hard to find 40-82 caliber. The barrel is a heavy hex at 25" with the full length tube magazine and a right hand loading gate. The sights are original factory and are adjustable for windage and elevation. This stock ,with its crescent butt, is in remarkable condition for its age and has no cracks or missing pieces and only minor marks/saratches. The walnut is a rich dark hue and has very nice swirls and grain.
All the metal is in pristine condition with the expected patina that comes with time but there are sharp edges and no scratches, gouges or rust/pitting anywhere. The screws are all original and none have tool marks or wear from ill fitting screw drivers. Bore is bright with nice grooves and zero pitting or rust.
The serial #49931 with a patent date of October 14, 1884, and January 20, 1885 (see pictures).
Overall this is a fine example of a meticulously maintained and preserved piece of American history and will make a handsome addition to any collection. This gun is classified as an authentic antique and is in perfect working order. As an antique it does not require the need for an FFL.
