Description:
We are offering for sale a JP SAUER Model 90 Grand African bolt action rifle chambered in .458 Win Mag caliber. This rifle is circa late 1970/early 1980s.
The rifle features the patented non-rotating bolt with the bolt lock button on top of the bolt handle, which provides a smoother action than most standard bolt action rifles. The top of the barrel is marked ".458 WIN MAG" followed by J.P. SAUER & SOHN/GMBH GEGRUNDET 1751", with the left side of the receiver marked "SAUER 90/MADE IN W. GERMANY". It has the heavy magnum weight barrel with a hooded ramp front sight and a Williams adjustable rear sight. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts and it has the patented adjustable trigger. It is fitted with a checkered pistol grip walnut stock with a cheekpiece on the left hand with contrasting rosewood forend tip and grip cap. The grip cap has the intertwined Sauer logo inlay. The stock has the factory sling swivel studs and a "J.P. SAUER" marked ventilated recoil pad. These rifles were discontinued in 1985.
The rifle is excellent with 99% original blue finish and almost no signs of wear. The wood is excellent with very light wear; 99% condition. This rifle is mechanically excellent.
The gun also comes with a Galco brand "Safari Five" leather ammo pouch which holds (5) rounds of the .458 Win Mag caliber.
