Description:
I believe this to be the work of renown knifemaker Fred James who worked in the Wostenholm & Sons plant in Sheffield at the time it was closed down. Fred inherited many of the original tools and stamps. This is likely one of his finely made bowie knives that remains in remarkable condition today. Measuring 15 1/4” overall the heavy blade is 10 1/4” in length and nearly 1/4” thick. The blade has some minor discoloration as seen in the photos that would probably clean up but I’ll leave that to the new owner. The ivory handles are in excellent condition and have a rich, mellow creamy color. Perhaps one of the best parts is the excellent sheath with gold leaf pattern and IXL that could easily be mistaken for a pre-1890s original. Free Insured shipping to the continental USA. Three day inspection and retry privilege with full refund (buyer pays return shipping) if return in original condition.
