Antique Winchester Model 1886 rifle, caliber 38-56, with special order 28" octagon barrel 2" longer than standard, full magazine, crescent butt and double set trigger. Factory records confirm the configuration and show a ship date of November 1895. Receiver shows 5% original case colors, remainder silvered out and turning patina. Barrel and mag tube 50% mix of blue and patina. Stocks show moderate nicks and dings, especially on the fore arm, but have never been sanded or refinished, and do not have any splits, cracks or extra holes. Original sights. Bore is average with plenty of evident rifling but some darkness in the grooves and light frost. Should spin a bullet fine. Double set trigger functions properly, as does the half cock safety. Overall a good piece with 2 interesting special order options.
