This Remington Model 700 Classic Limited Edition rifle is an absolute beauty and is in a sought-after and cool caliber, .17 Remington. The Remington Arms Company brought out the Limited Edition Classic line of the Model 700 in a different caliber each year, starting in 1981. These rifles were relatively low production, and as you can imagine the uncommon or metric calibers are the most sought-after. The 700 Classic rifle features a high-polish factory blue finish, a jeweled bolt body, an alloy triggerguard and floorplate, and a factory drilled and tapped receiver. While the 700 Classic is similar to the BDL model, the stock is a straight classic design instead with hand-cut checkering, sling swivel studs, and a factory installed recoil pad. The Classic does not have the black forend tip or pistol grip cap. This 1998/99 Remington Classic is a beautiful all-original rifle that has obviously spent most of it's life in a safe. If it has been fired since leaving the factory, it has been a couple of times at the very most. If not for a few very tiny safe dings in the wood and one little spot of surface rust where the barrel meets the receiver it would be a like-new rifle. The original gloss blue finish is bright and very attractive, rating 98% plus. The only deduction coming from the spot mentioned before (close-up pictures provided). The black factory finish on the alloy triggerguard and floorplate is like-new, rating 99% plus. The bore in the 24" inch barrel is minty and bright. There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind in the bore. The rifling still looks brand-new with sharp lands and grooves. The factory jeweling on the bolt is still mirror bright and beautiful, and the bolt face is like-new with no wear or primer ring. The factory checkered Walnut stock is really attractive on this Remington and in excellent condition. The wood is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or wear to speak of. The checkered panels on the wrist and forearm are clean and still nice and crisp. The satin semi-gloss factory wood finish is 100% intact and only under very close inspection can you find a few itty bitty handling/storage marks in the wood. The factory installed sling swivel studs are in place and in excellent shape, and the factory installed Remington-branded recoil pad is perfectly fit to the butt and is tight to the wood. As you can see from the pictures, this rifle has a very clean, like-new look to it overall. All of the controls on this Remington are in perfect working order and the action is nice and smooth. The bolt turns into battery perfectly and the trigger is excellent, breaking with a light pull with no slop. This Remington 700 Classic comes with a 1-piece Burris base and 1" inch rings already installed on it. All it needs is a good scope mounted on it and this rifle would be ready for the range or woods. The .17 Remington cartridge this rifle is chambered in is really a cool round. It is super fast and small as well as extremely accurate. The .17 Remington is a varmint DESTROYER from coyotes and bobcats on down to prairie dogs. If you have been looking for a really cool new rifle to add to your collection this Remington 700 Classic Limited Edition in .17 Remington would be an excellent choice. Not only would be a great long-term investment due to the limited production, but it would be a LOT of fun at the range or afield.
