Description:
This is  immensely scarce original Colt 1860 Army Revolver in with Fluted Cylinder in all matching #4752 serial number in fine condition. Letter states that it was shipped to "Kimball & Burleigh , Fitchburgh, Mass. in April of 1861".  Includes  this Colt Factory Letter.  This revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the full fluted cylinder after which all other 1860 Army revolvers (numbering more than 200,000+) had the typical round cylinders. These revolvers appear in the first 8,500 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields cut for an attachable shoulder stock. With most of these early production revolvers were the first to see action in the United States Civil War, survival rate of this rare early variation is extremely small and good examples with all matching serial numbers, such as this firearm, almost never appear on the collector market today. This example shows clear serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back of the cylinder, cylinder arbor, wedge and  on the butt. The smooth one-piece walnut grip is ink-numbered to the gun. The butt is inscribed in attractive flowing script "TLR". It would seem  likely that a certain "TLR"  pravately purchased this revolver. The correct four-screw frame is marked, “COLT’S PATENT” on the left side. Top of 8” barrel correctly stamped “ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U. S. AMERICA.” Stamped in one cylinder flute is “PATENTED SEPT 10TH 1850.” The revolver features an 8"  barrel in .44 Caliber, with an excellent bright bore. Excellent Nipples. Some of the  safety pins are still intact.   This is lovely all matching revolver, the barrel retaining perhaps 25% original bright blue mostly in the protected areas on the underside and left side of the barrel along with some flakes in the flutes of the cylinder with the balance toned to grey-brown patina showing fine  pitting scattered throughout. The frame, loading gate and hammer all show a healthy amount of bold case-hardened colors throughout with spots toning to mottled gray patina and scattered light oxidation syaining. The backstrap and triggerguard retain about 95% silver finish with some minor flaking mostly along the backstrap and areas showing pleasant tarnishing. The  Action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lockupes With Factory Letter that Confirms Configuration! . Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders and Bank Cashier's Check.( Will accept Personal check, with shipping hold). 3  Day non-firing non-disassembly inspection period. If returned, for any reason, full refund less shipping.ANTIQUE!
