This 1970 vintage Ruger Old Model Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum revolver is a really nice lightly-used gun that is 100% original except for the aftermarket grips. It is an un-altered example that has never been back to the Ruger factory for the transfer bar safety "upgrade". The original factory high-gloss blue finish is beautiful. These older production Super Blackhawks have a high polish blue finish that really puts their new production stuff to shame. The finish on this gun shows some minor dings, scratches, and wear, but nothing that takes away too much from the clean overall look of the revolver. The bores in both the barrel and cylinder are in excellent condition. The barrel is bright and clean, and the rifling still has sharp lands and grooves with no pitting or erosion visible. The faux pearl grips are old aftermarket parts but are in excellent condition. They likely have been on this Ruger for several decades and have managed to stay free from any cracks, chipping, or repairs. The mechanics of this Super Blackhawk are in 100% perfect working order. The hand-fit and tuned action in this Ruger is super smooth, precise, and perfectly "in time". The feel of this action cannot be replicated by all the fancy machinery used today in firearm's manufacturing. At full cock the cylinder locks up perfectly, and the trigger breaks very nicely with a light pull. If you have been looking for one of these .44 Mag. American-made classics for your collection that you can also enjoy at the range or on the farm this 1970 example would be a perfect choice.
