Description:
Topperwein was one of Winchester's famous marksmen and advisors. This gun was one of several presented to him on his retirement. There is a significant amount of paperwork that comes with the gun. One document is from Col. Rex Applegate who was well known for his shooting expertise and teacher to John Wayne. The bill of sale shows sale of this gun by serial number to S.P. Coffey. There is also some memorabilia of the Topperweins as well as a letter from George Madis.
This is a fine little gun with most original blue. Gun has a folding tang sight, model '03 Winchester rear sight, and a hooded front sight. Caliber 30 WCF. Inscribed on the left side of the frame is "A. T." for Ad Topperwein. The Deluxe grade wood is also in very good condition with just a few light handling mars. This all original 94 with the documentation is a great piece of History and belongs in your collection!
