Description:
This would be a good hunting rifle. An original, pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight. The scope is a Weaver model K-4. The rings are also made by Weaver. The bluing on the barrel is in good condition though with a small amount of wear near the muzzle and some minor scratches. The rifle’s bore is in excellent condition especially given the rifle’s age of 66 years! It is essentially in pristine condition. The action is glass smooth in operation, something you can’t find in a bolt rifle without spending a lot a money. The receiver has lost most of the finish but does not suffer from rust or pitting. The back of the scope lens is a little dirty. The stock has some wear such as scrapes or minor dings but does not suffer from anything major like cracks. If you are a fan of the Model 70 or are looking for an old-school rifle chambered in .308, this rifle would a fine choice. The Model 70 is considered by many gun enthusiasts to be finest bolt action rifle ever made in the U.S. I personally own a pre-64 Model 70 in 300 H&H and can without doubt that it is one of the finest rifles I have ever owned. The Model 70 has been used for everything from hunting to target shooting and has even seen military service as a sniper rifle alongside famous rifles such as the Springfield 1903A4, Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I(T), Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 Sniper, and Mauser Model 98k Sniper.
