Description:
This vintage Tommy Gun clone called the Commando Mark III was made by Volunteer Enterprises in Knoxville, Tn. sometime during the late 1960's or early 1970's.  A simple blow-back action in a stamped and welded upper receiver on a cast lower receiver, these Commando Mark III's were meant to be a lot of fun to shoot at the range or farm, and use 30-round M3 Grease Gun magazines instead of the more expensive Thompson mags. This particular example shows some wear and handling marks but still has a nice look to it overall.  The original black paint finish on the upper receiver and barrel still looks good, and the black "krinkle" paint finish on the cast trigger housing is mostly still intact and attractive.  The bore in this Commando is nice and clean, showing nice strong rifling and no pitting or imperfections.  The stock set is an actual U.S.G.I. Thompson surplus stock set and is in excellent condition overall.  All of the wood is free from cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage and matches nicely.  While there are some handling and storage marks visible in the wood it has a great look to it, and all of the stock hardware is intact and in great shape.  All of the controls on this Commando Mark III are in perfect working order and the bolt goes into battery perfectly.  This vintage semi-auto .45 ACP carbine would be a great addition to any gun collection as both a fun range toy and an invesment piece, as there is nothing like it made today.
