Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1961, .410 Gauge, LOP 14"
Serial Number: 161925

The Model 42 is an icon in the ranks of Winchester firearms, made in the days of the highest quality control and hand fitted parts.  The Model 42 was a flawlessly produced little pump gun, chambered only for the diminutive .410 shotgun shell.  In the 30 years of production that ran from 1933 to 1963, almost 160,000 of these fine guns were produced.  A very large percentage were Field Grade guns, and there were also Skeet Grades, Trap Grades, and the Deluxe Grade.  This little M42, sn161925 made in 1961, is a TRUE STAND-OUT IN THE WORLD OF FIELD GRADE MODEL 42’S.  Most Field Grade guns were used hard, show wear and tear, many having been altered with short stocks, replaced wood, and restorations (some of which were well done, most of which were not).  Look closely at the photos of this gun and you will see a truly mint, factory original, untouched Model 42 that is 57 years old and has barely been fired and not altered in anyway since leaving the factory.  The 26” Modified choked barrel has virtually 100% factory blue.  The receiver and trigger guard have 99.5% factory blue with the only detractions being each has a tiny handling mark, but no use wear.  The wood retains 99.5% factory finish as well, with only one or two tiny handling marks.  The bore is perfect, as are the screws.  This is a rare find, and as most of us know, condition is everything when it comes to value in collectible Winchester firearms.  The Model 42 has a strong following and as time marches on, there are fewer of these truly MINT examples that will remain which simply increases the value of Model 42’s like this one.  The Winchester Model 42 is a solid investment quality shotgun that is fun to shoot as it continues to increase in value.  Thanks for looking.
