Description:
General Specs: Remington, Year 1956, 12 Gauge, Semi Auto Shotgun
Serial Number: 1001-v

I have owned a very important and special Remington Sportsman 58, F Grade with gold, for many years.  I have had my fun with it and it is time to pass it on to a person who collects the finest firearms.  It is the Remington Sportsman 58, sn1001v, the first one ever made and presented to the President of Remington Arms in 1956.  We have a custom fit leather case to house the gun which came with 2 barrels, one 28” Full choke, the other a 26” Skeet choke.  The gun was engraved and signed by Robert Runge, the Remington Custom shop chief engraver at the time.  THIS IS THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL GAS OPERATED AUTO EVER PRODUCED, THE FIRST GAS OPERATED AUTO IN THE REMINGTON LINE-UP, AND THIS IS THE VERY FIRST GUN OFF THE LINE.  I have a detailed letter coming from the Remington Historical Society that will detail the making of the gun.  I have emails I have saved with bits and pieces of correspondence that will go into the formal letter.  See the attached letter from Remington Arms, and excerpts from my emails with a Eugene Myzskowski who is part of a group putting together a nice book regarding engraved Remington guns.  THIS GUN WILL BE FEATURED AND HIGHLIGHTED IN THE UPCOMING BOOK.  That will substantially bolster this gun’s value.  We put $2000 into a killer leather case with a completely custom interior that houses the gun and the 2 barrels in a way that they cannot move, which keeps from wearing the blue or the case due to movement. There is no clear-cut formula to value the provenance of being presented to the President of Remington Arms or being the very first one ever made, but there is a good deal of value in those two facts, no doubt.  That it is a two-barrel set and engraved by Robert Runge is significant as well.

This gun would be a pinnacle piece in any gun collection, and certainly one of the finest you could add to a Remington collection.  I cannot imagine any Remington F Grade more significant than this one or presented with this much class.  The Remington Historical Society letter will be laminated and made to fit to the left of the custom-made Remington label. The factory letter that is shown in the photos is sparse on information, but further documentation for the gun, and will be laminated and placed to the right side of the label.  This is one of those guns that is worth a ton of money to the right guy, a lot more money than we are asking for the gun.  I want to leave some room in it for the next owner to make it a good investment opportunity.  The gun is in 99.5% condition.  We restored the wood, as the Remington finish had crackled and spiderwebbed over time.  It is a hand-rubbed oil finish that it flawless.  If you can swing the cost of this gun and get it in your hand, you will be overjoyed to own it.  Keep in mind that there is a $2000 case in this package.  This is truly a one-of-a-kind Remington F Grade with solid provenance and documentation.  It is also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own such a solidly documented high-grade Remington.  Thanks for looking!
