Description:
.55 cal smooth bore, converted from flint to percussion, NVSN, 40 inch barrel, plum finish, full stock, ":Adams" on lock plate, "M SMITH" on barrel, brass patch box and furniture, oval escutcheon plate at wrist, single trigger, original sights, early 1800's.
Believe maker is Marvin Smith. Located in Greenville, Mass in the early 1800's. Have not found a lock maker "Adams" that fits.
Condition: bore is dark, barrel retains 90% brown, brass is aged mustard color, old repair on trigger guard at front of guard bow, there is the usually wood and metal degradation where the flash pan was originally, marks very good, mechanically very good.
