Description:
Serial #353, .500/.450 No. 1 Carbine, 25" barrel with a good plus, lightly freckled bore. This carbine uses Westley Richard's side-lever opening action, and has an overall dark brown patina with areas of fading and pitting at the muzzle, and on the trigger guard bow. There is further mild pitting along the tops of the receiver, barrel, and breech-block. The walnut forend and buttstock have been lightly sanded with small handling marks and surface blemishes in the otherwise fine added oil finish. The stock compartment trapdoor is no longer present. The action is fully functional, and a non-original metal ramrod is included. This is a rather scarce and seldom seen military type carbine by one of Britain's most respected maker of sporting guns and rifles. The carbine rates good-near very good overall, and would make a nice addition to a collection. Antique
