Description:
Well documented Mexican Revolution Smith & Wesson Model No 3 inscribed to Doroteo Arango, better known as General Poncho Villa. Very possibly the first gun owned by Poncho Villa, as he used his god given name only until about 17 years of age. Left at the Edelbrock Saddlery Company , which made hundreds of cartridge belts for Villa's army, to repair the mainspring, Villa raided Columbus, New Mexico on the 9th of March in 1916. The US then sent General John J Pershing to chase Villa around Mexico until he was recalled when the US entered World War I. Villa never came back for this gun and was assassinated on July 23rd, 1923. The gun was in JM Edelbrocks shop until 1936 when William Locke bought it. This gun was shipped from the factory in January of 1881
