This Mauser Banner Luger with a "Eagle F" Nazi Police proof mark was ONLY manufactured in 1939, and according to Jan Still's estimates less than 2300 were made making this a rare variation. All of the other Nazi Police proofs (Eagle K,L, or C) outside of the Eagle F were produced two or more years. Consequently, these Eagle F Lugers are rarely seen on the market and we have not had one for sale in any condition for quite some time. This pistol is an excellent example with approx. 92 to 95% of the original factory blue finish remaining. Most of the wear that is visible is high edge wear from being carried in the holster, and the grip straps show some minor thinning front and rear. The bore is in excellent condition in this Luger. It is still bright with no pitting or signs of erosion showing. The rifling is still prominent with sharp lands and grooves. The checked Walnut grips are also in great shape. They are free from cracks or repairs, and show very little wear. This Luger is in superb condition mechanically and everything works 100% like the day it left the Mauser factory. All of the numbered parts are original and matching except for the magazine and grips (grips are both numbered "002"). The magazine is correct in that it is a Haenel Schmeisser made Luger magazine and is Nazi Police proofed and numbered, just not to this particular Luger. This Mauser Banner Eagle F Police Luger would be a great addition to any serious Luger collection and would be quite hard to improve upon!
