Description:
The Remington Model 799 was made for Remington in Serbia by Zastava from 2006 to 2008 when it was discontinued. It is a scaled-down Mauser-action repeater with a 20" inch barrel in a checkered brown laminate stock. This rifle comes with a gloss blue finish from the factory on all of the metal parts. The Model 799 has an 4-round internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, and the 2-position safety is mounted to the right-rear of the bolt. This particular example is chambered in 7.62x39 caliber, a Russian military cartridge that is widely available and inexpensive as surplus with balistics that closely match the .30-30 Winchester cartridge. These little rifles are well made, reliable, and good looking. While the 7.62x39 cartridge is not usually thought of as an accurate round due to it's connection with the AK-47, this little bolt action rifle really maximizes the cartridge's potential and is very capable out to 200 yards plus. This Remington 799 is in excellent condition overall and has been fired very little, if at all. It has spent at least the last 10 years in storage where it acquired some safe dings and scrapes on the stock from an overcrowded safe, otherwise it would be like-new. The original blue finish is in excellent condition, the bore is bright and clean with sharp rifling, and all of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order. The protective white plugs on the bottom of the stock are in the pre-drilled factory sling swivel holes that have never had sling studs installed in them. This somewhat scarce little Remington would be the perfect rifle for someone wanting a compact medium-power cartridge bolt gun to carry on the farm, or the perfect deer rifle for a new shooter or small-framed hunter. This Remington 799 comes with a set of Weaver bases already installed on the receiver.
