This is a very nice customized Smith & Wesson Model 629-1 Stainless Steel .44 Magnum revolver that was manufactured in 1983. It has been customized with a hand-cut checkered panel on the front of the triggerguard for grip for your support hand, a Millett adjustable rear target sight, a set of beautiful smooth Herrett's burl Walnut "combat" style grips, and a polished trigger face to go along with an amazing custom action job. The action on this Smith & Wesson has to be felt to be truly appreciated. The double-action pull is velvety-smooth and light until the trigger breaks, and in single action operation the trigger breaks like a glass rod with an extremely light pull. This revolver has been turned into a true competition-worthy target/service weapon. This Model 629-1 is a very attractive gun that has been very well cared-for. The stainless steel finish still looks clean and bright with only some very minor handling marks visible under close inspection. The bore is pristine in this Smith, with nice sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no visible imperfections. The cylinder bores are equally as clean with no imperfections. The custom Herrett's burl Walnut grips are in excellent condition and have some extremely attractive figure in them. Both grip panels are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and they fit this S&W nicely with no wiggle in them. As mentioned before, the action is amazing on this gun and it is perfectly "in time" whether operated in single or double action. The 6-shot cylinder locks up tight at full-lock, and the custom tuned trigger is superb. All of the controls/functions on this revolver are in 100% perfect working order. If you have been looking for a cool vintage Smith & Wesson for your collection this Model 629-1 would be a great choice. This S&W would be a superb target pistol as well as a great hunting/bear protection gun that you could carry anywhere with pride.
