The Smith & Wesson Performance Center Heritage Series Model 29-9 was only made for one year in 2002, with the factory nickel finish guns being Lew Horton exclusives. These nickel finish Lew Horton guns can be identified by the prefix "BBR" in the serial number. These Performance Center 29-9 revolvers feature a 6.5" inch barrel with a half underlug/extractor rod shroud, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, an adjustable rear sight with a brass bead patridge-style front sight, target grips, and the S&W Performance Center logo on the left side of the frame. As mentioned earlier, these guns all came from the factory with a blue finish except for the Lew Horton models which had a factory nickel finish. This particular revolver is a factory nickel finish model, serial number BBR0053. While it has been shot it has been well-cared for, and is still in excellent condition overall. It is 100% original except for the grips, which are very attractive and high-quality Kim Ahrends aftermarket grips. The nickel finish rates 97% plus, with the only deductions coming from some tiny handling marks and a very faint drag line on the cylinder. The bore is minty and bright in this Smith & Wesson, with nice sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections. The action on this Performance Center/Lew Horton S&W is superb, smooth and precise, and perfectly "in time". The cylinder locks up perfectly and the trigger is exceptional, breaking with a light pull with no grit or excessive travel in single action operation. You can really feel the difference in the action and trigger between a standard production S&W and the Performance Center-tuned guns. All of the controls on this gun are in 100% perfect working order. This rare Lew Horton exclusive .44 magnum revolver would be an excellent addition to any S&W or general gun collection.
