Antique AMERICAN “BULL DOG” 44 Centerfire Revolver
Made by Iver Johnson Circa 1883/84
Here we present an antique “AMERICAN BULL-DOG” .44 Double Action centerfire Revolver, made circa 1883/84 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, by Iver Johnson. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and
motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the closing decades of the tumultuous 19th Century.
This revolver features a double/single action trigger and five shots of .44 Centerfire. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action trigger is crisp. The top of the barrel is marked “AMERICAN BULL DOG” and the grips have an eagle molded into them. The entirety is very nicely nickel plated.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is about 98%. The markings are clear. The eagle trademarked hard rubber grips are in fine shape. The bore is in great shape with strong rifling. The hammer spur has been removed and smoothed out for double action only function. The action is excellent.
