Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum in .357 Magnum is one of the all-time classics in double-action revolvers.  First introduced in 1955, Smith & Wesson made the Model 19 for many decades until it was discontinued in 1999.  During the production run there were multiple engineering changes made, with each change adding a "dash number" to the model name.  This particular Model 19 Combat Magnum is a 19-3 made in 1975.  It has the sought-after pinned barrel (4") and recessed chambers in the cylinder, as well as factory target-style grips.  This S&W shows some wear and tear to the original blue finish but is still an attractive gun overall, and it is mechanically perfect.  The high-gloss factory blue finish rates 92% +/- showing holster and high edge wear, a drag-line around the cylinder, and wear to the rear grip strap finish as well as two spots of finish loss on the triggerguard bow.  The factory case colors on the trigger and hammer show some fading, but still show some nice color in spots and in the protected areas.  This can all be seen in the pictures provided including some close-up shots.  The bore in this Model 19-3 is excellent.  The rifling still shows nice sharp lands and grooves, and there is no visible pitting or erosion.  The cylinder bores are equally as clean.  The original factory target-style grips are in good condition overall but show wear consistent with the rest of the revolver.  The checkered panels on each grip are still clean and have plenty of grip, but the smooth parts of the grip show wear to the original varnish particularly to the rear portion of each grip and the upper section of the left grip.  The original S&W medallions are still intact in both grips, and the grips fit the gun nice and tight with no wiggle.  The action on this Smith is perfectly "in time" when worked by hand in both single and double action modes of operation.  All of the controls on this reolver are in perfect working order including the adjustable rear sight.  If you have been looking for a classic Model 19 for your collection that you can enjoy at the range or at the farm, this 1975 S&W Model 19-3 would be a great choice.
