GEORGE III FLINTLOCK BOX LOCK BRASS BLUNDERBUSS PISTOL WITH SPRING BAYONET SIGNED WHEELER / LONDON CIRCA 1800. 11” o/a with 6 ½” cannon muzzle (3/4”) barrel. Birmingham proofs on underside of barrel at the breech. All original and very nice quality. All original screws and lock parts. Locks engraved with “STAND OF FLAG” maker cartouches signed alternately “LONDON” AND “WHEELER”. Original steel spring bayonet. Original walnut grip. Period steel ramrod with nicely turned head. Excellent with nice unpolished umber color brass and grip with the original finish. Perfect working order (including the spring bayonet) and excellent bore. Robert Wheeler worked at 16 Staining Lane, Birmingham from 1799-1813. Thereafter he removed to London where with his son the firm remained in business until 1843.
