Description:
Here I present a beautifully aged gold patina .58 caliber muzzleloading springfield type 1 musket. The 1861/63 percussion rifle was the warhorse of the US Civil War. This example is a contract musket manufactured by Amoskeag. Lock reads "Amoskeag Mfg Co. MANCHESTER N.H" next to eagle. Lock dated 1864. Clamps have "u", buttplate has "US". Equipped with proper period correct ramrod. Stock shows no cartouches, looks to have been refinished. Mechanically fine with strong springs.
