Here I present a beautiful Springfield Armory made 1863 Type 1 Rifled Springfield Musket. Everything is proper on this very fine example. Lock reads "US SPRINGFIELD" next to clear and deep eagle. Lock dated 1863. Barrel dated 1863 and has correct "VP over eagle". Period correct ramrod. "US" on buttplate. "u" on clamps. This original stock appears to have been possibly sanded smooth and still retains very nice and clear cartouches. Mechanically fine with strong springs.
