Description:
Serial #2884 & 80594, 11 x 50Rmm Comblain, 34 1/2" barrel with a fair bore that has dark pitting within the grooves. This rifle has matching numbers on the barrel, lever, and trigger (2884) with the metal having an overall dark, plum-brown re-applied blue finish that has some scattered areas of moderate pinprick pitting at the front of the receiver, breech and knox form of the barrel, and on the top of the breech block. The walnut forend and buttstock are in very good condition as refinished and has scattered minor handling marks and blemishes throughout as well as still visible cartouches and stamps on either side of the buttstock under the oil finish. Although the rifle is missing the tip of the cleaning rod, the action has tight lock-up and the mechanism functions flawlessly. This is a seldom seen rifle and action, and is in about good plus condition. {Please Note: “The Comblain Rifle – An Early Falling Block Breechloader" Historical Arms New Series No. 3, by Jonathan Kirton (2015) is available on this site – Item 30022} Antique
