Sold...SD...a pre-war best quality German 16 gauge/7x57 Mauser Drilling made by the exceptional Erfurt firm of Theodor Schafer in March of 1935. Deep game scene and scroll engraving covering 100% of all the metal, gold plated triggers, 24 3/8 inch Krupp Laufstahl barrels, beautiful mirror bore and chambers with no corrosion. 95%+ original blueing with traces of case colors inside the action. Sights are excellent, brass bead front and safety actuated flip up rear. This drilling has a shotgun safety on the left side which is unique to the best quality drillings. Game scene engraving is of best quality with roebuck and grouse on the left side and stag on the right, scroll and floral on the remainder with 100% coverage. Cocking indicators and bushed locking firing pins, scalloped side fences, solid matte rib with superb "bell ringing" barrels. Stocks are in original varnish with no repairs, inlaid buffalo horn fore arm, pistol grip cap, horn trigger guard and butt plate. Original sling swivels remain excellent as well. Normal hunting wear on the stocks, very fine original 26 to 28 lines per inch checkering which remains mostly sharp. LOP is 14 1/4 inches. Water tables are profusely stamped and proofed, Nitro barrels with all stamps crystal clear and legible. All original factory finish throughout with no screw heads having ever been turned. A beautiful and stunning drilling with no apologies in typical best quality form, fit and function made in the hey day of the finest German makers! 7 boxes of RWS loaded cartridges comes with this drilling!
