Custom 1903 Springfield .308 Winchester
This custom rifle was built in 1987 on a WWII 1903 Springfield action manufactured by Remington. For most of the last 25 years it has rested in a gun safe, which helps to account for the remarkably fine condition. It is chambered for .308 Winchester. The hand-checkered English walnut stock has a small cheekpiece for a right-handed shooter. Action and barrel are glass-bedded, and the gun is accurate to 1” MOA. The Douglas light-weight 22” stainless-steel barrel has a recessed crown; the outside diameter at the muzzle is .505”. The scope is a blued-steel Weaver Microtrac 2-7x variable mounted on a Redfield one-piece base. The Timney adjustable trigger is currently set at 3 pounds of pull. There are artifacts of old light pitting on the bottom metal. The gun has a Neidner blued-steel grip cap, steel sling swivels, and an ebony forend tip. The overall length of the gun is 42”. LOP is 13-1/2” over a 1/2” Pachmayr Old English rubber recoil pad. With scope mounted, it weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces. The listed price does not include shipping, which is paid by the buyer.
