Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is an absolutely beautiful example of a Marlin Model 444S in .444 Marlin caliber manufactured in 1980. This all-original and complete gun has not been modified or changed in any way since it was new. This rifle looks to be unfired since leaving the factory, and has obviously spent most of it's life in a safe or storage. The Model 444S was first introduced in 1972 as the pistol grip stock version of the standard Model 444 that was introduced in 1965. The Model 444S features a factory gloss blue finish, a 22" inch barrel with iron sights, a 4-shot magazine tube mounted under the barrel, and a smooth Walnut pistol grip stock set with factory sling swivels and a recoil pad. Marlin made the Model 444S until 1983 when it was discontinued in favor of the Model 444SS. This particular Model 444S is serial number 20191422, made in 1980. As you can see in the pictures the original gloss blue factory finish is beautiful on this Marlin, and only under close inspection shows some very tiny handling marks and some discolored tiny spots in the blue on the receiver where there was some prior surface rust. With these deductions the finish rates 97% plus. There is no wear on the finish whatsoever. The factory gold finished trigger rates 99%, with the gold finish still showing nice and bright The bore in this Model 444S is pristine and mirror-bright. The rifling still shows perfectly sharp lands and grooves, and there is no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections of any kind throughout. There is absolutely no evidence inside or out that this rifle has been fired. The bolt face is pristine with no primer marks, and the loading gate shows no tell-tale stripe/wear from being loaded. The factory iron sights are in perfect condition and functional, and the original front sight hood is still intact. The original factory Walnut stock set is in excellent "like-new" condition overall. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and the original factory glossy wood finish is 100% intact. The buttstock on this rifle features a factory white spacer and black pistol grip cap, a factory-installed recoil pad, factory installed sling swivels, and the factory "bullseye" insert in the keel of the stock. All of the stock features and hardware are in excellent condition, and the length of pull is 13.75" inches to the end of the pad. As mentioned before, the internals of this Model 444S are just as clean as the exterior and shows no mechanical wear. The lever action is smooth but still nice and tight, and it locks into battery perfectly. All of the controls/functions of this Marlin are 100% like the day it left the factory. The original factory plug screws are even still in the receiver, and there has never been any optics mounted on this rifle. This vintage Marlin comes with a period Marlin-branded leather sling attached with quick-release sling swivels and a removable Marlin hammer extension. If you have been looking for an exceptional vintage Marlin Model 444S for your collection this rifle would be an excellent choice. This Marlin would also be a great choice for someone who desires a high quality vintage lever action in an excellent bear and moose caliber that wants to carry it afield. Marlin sure doesn't make them like this anymore!
