Antique NICKEL PLATED Single Action!
Here we present an antique Colt New Line .22 Revolver First Model, made in 1876 in Hartford, Connecticut. The New Line was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873. Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. It was stronger in design than its predecessor the Open Top due to its enclosed frame, something other makers had adopted years ago. It was designed to be a handy pocket-carry revolver, chambered for 7 shots in .22 rimfire, which was very popular for self-defense in these days.
The revolver features 7 shots of .22 rimfire. Etched on the left side of the barrel is “COLT NEW 22”. Patent dates are on the bottom of the barrel.
The overall condition is near fine. The original nickel finish is about 85% with a bit of flaking. The markings are clear. The grips show wear and remain solid. The cylinder arbor pin is a replacement. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a fantastic example of a very neat Colt pocket revolver!
