Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are sure proud to offer Colt's own reissue of the rarest version of their single actions, the 16 inch Buntline with a detachable stock. Only about 30 of these were made early in the first generation, with only 18 found in the Colt shipping ledgers. When one hits an , they sell for over 50 grand. The legend of Ned Buntline still causes historical debate, the dime novel writer said to have made the first request for a long barreled Colt six gun. He is said to have given several as gifts to those on the side of the law, including Wyatt Earp. They had barrels of 10 to 16 inches, and some were equipped with detachable stocks. Another feature was an adjustable sight milled into the top strap, similar to a miniature carbine ladder sight. Some were made in the later generations, but usually with a 12 inch barrel and fixed sights. In 1970, Colt made a run of nearly 500 of these very special 16 inch guns, to commemorate Wyatt Earp. This is the only time since those first 30 guns were made that Colt installed the carbine sight on a 16 inch gun with a detachable stock. Now, you know one of the best kept secrets of Colt collecting. Most of them have been snapped up and are locked away. I have seen a dozen or so that have sold in the past few years, and not one seller even raised the sight. This one is in very good condition, with light handling marks and light turn lines. Even the nickel stock is in good shape. The blue is rich and deep, and the case color is like only Colt can produce. If you have been looking for the right Colt to collect or for investment, but want the one nobody else has, then look no further.
