Mauser G 33/40 Mountain Carbine Stamped "DOT" (Waffen Werke Brunn) Dated 1941, Cal. 8 mm, Ser. 6XX a. A very early production serial number indeed.
Frankly, this is the nicest "Mountain Carbine, AKA, Ski Trooper carbine, Alpine Carbine" I can't remember ever having nicer one in my 55 year career . All numbered parts match, the bolt, barreled receiver and the butt stock.
The finish is an 95-96% of the original factory blue. The butt plate and stock shield are in the white. Surprisingly there are no pits, rust patches or even pin pricks anywhere. The only rub marks, and they are rather scant are on the bolt. That is of course would be expected.
The receiver is correctly stamped Eagle/63, Eagle/WaA63, and Eagle/ 63 on the right side. The left side is stamped Eagle/Swastika as is the correct hollowed out bolt knob.
The stock is very smooth and may have been lightly sanded, and there are a few slight surface dings. and a very slight field repaired crack in the upper hand guard.However, there are no chips, gouges or rub marks.
The bolt rails, bolt face, magazine follower and feed ramp show very little use.
The barrel is super, mirror with razor rifling and not a spot of frost anywhere.
It comes complete with one correct G 33/40 sling, correct small front sight hood and cleaning rod. What a treasure, a very early 1941 serial number and beautiful condition.
