Description:
This super-early production Inland M1 Carbine is really a spectacular piece.  It is a true survivor that is all-original and 100% correct, just like the day it left the Inland factory in late 1942.  It has all of the sought-after features that were only on the earliest guns, and were soon phased out as production was simplified and economized.  The M1 Carbine was one of the most important weapons in the U.S. Military's inventory during World War 2, particularly in the Pacific Theatre.  Featuring a 18" inch barrel and chambered in the intermediate power .30 Carbine cartridge, this lightweight semi-automatic carbine used a 15-round detachable box magazine that gave it more capacity than any of our enemy's carbines or rifles.  It's small size and lightweight construction made it a favorite among the island-hopping Marines and Army, where speed and volume of fire was the difference between life and death when going against the entrenched Japanese.  The M1 Carbine served the U.S. Military admirably in both combat theatres thru the end of World War 2 and Korea, with some carbines even still being used during the Vietnam War.  Because of the long service length with U.S. forces many of the M1 Carbines in inventory were rebuilt one or more times before being sold as surplus or destroyed, making all-original non-rebuild weapons hard to find.  This particular gun was likely brought home after World War 2 by the solider that it was issued to, and was never in the arsenal rebuild pipeline.  As mentioned before, it is 100% correct and original, with every single part being the proper type for an Inland in this serial number range.  The previous owner did a complete disassembly of the weapon and completed a "data sheet" on it, listing all of the parts individually.  That data sheet is included with the gun.  As you will notice in the pictures provided, some of the "early" features that stick out are the "I-cut" high-wood stock with a large Ordnance Wheel cartouche, a sling well stamped with an Ordnance bomb & IO stamp, a small Ordnance bomb stamped behind the recoil plate, a Type 1 rear sight and barrel band, a Type 1 checkered push-button safety, a Type 2-A serrated short-face magazine catch, a Type 1 slide, and a Type 2 factory blued flat bolt.  All of the internal parts you cannot see are the correct early types for this Inland M1 Carbine as well.  The original parkerized finish on this carbine is very attractive.  While it shows a little wear that is to be expected for a combat-used and issued weapon, the gun has a very "even" and pleasing look to it.  The wear/patina on all of the parts is very consistent with each other, exactly what you want to see on an original M1 Carbine.  The stock is in excellent condition on this Inland.  As mentioned earlier it is one of the earliest types with an "I-cut" for the oiler and high wood covering the operating slide.  The Walnut stock is free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage, and all of the proper cartouches are still intact and visible.  This early-production Inland is in perfect working order.  All of the controls are 100% like the day it left the factory in late 1942.  This Inland even comes with the proper early model U.S.G.I. khakisling with the early narrow-width buckle.  The sling is in very good condition and free from any tears or fraying, and the blackened brass snap fastener is in perfect working order as well.  If you have been looking for a "centerpiece" type M1 Carbine for your U.S. Military weapons collection this is it.  It is a very rare occasion that we get such an early WW2 production Inland carbine in ANY condition, much less one that is 100% correct and has never been rebuilt in such great shape!
