Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 1905, .44-40
Serial Number: 262964

Master Engraver, David W. Harris; Important DW Harris Signed and Engraved first-generation Colt Single Action Army Bisley Model in .44-40 caliber. Texas engraver David Wade Harris, who is still active in Granbury, TX, learned his craft from Weldon Bledsoe who learned the Cattle Brand design from Cole Agee.  This fabulous Colt Bisley, sn262964 was made in 1905 and retains perfect screws, excellent shiny bore with strong rifling, action tight and well timed, and a most desirable 7 ½” barrel.  The entire revolver is covered in the best of “Cattle Brand” style engraving made famous by Colt engraver Cole Agee.  As the name implies, the engraving consists of historically documented Texas cattle brands, and this revolver even has the Texas Ranger star on the left-hand bolster.  There is no evidence of any pitting on the gun and all the original Colt stampings, serial numbers, and logos are clear and legible.  The nickel plating is 100% with no flaking or loss.  The fabulous Stag grips fit the gun well and complete the beautiful aesthetics of this 113-year-old revolver.  The revolver is signed by D.W. Harris on the bottom of the grip.  Harris has become a very notable engraver of Colt SAA revolvers and his work continues to be collected around the world and the value of his artfully crafted firearms continue to climb.  This is a gorgeous, investment quality Colt that will be a stunning addition to your collection.  Thanks for looking!
