Description:
Offered is a 4-DIGIT serial number 1959 Colt Python in the marvelous original factory Royal Blue finish developed for these early Pythons. This is a wonderful early example that exhibits crisp, clear stampings and edges. The delicate finish is thinning in the usual high points and barrel end. There is wear and markings commensurate for a well-cared for 59-year old specimen of a firearm which exhibits all of the details and finish that made Colt the premiere firearms manufacturer. The action is crisp, the lock up is tight, the bolt drops ½ way into the grooves on all 6, and the bore is bright and shiny. Included in the sale will be the Colt Archive letter confirming an early, January 4, 1960 2-gun shipment. As January 4, 1960 was the Monday following the New Years Day factory holiday, this firearm was most likely manufactured at the very end of 1959, if not earlier and subsequently shelved.
