Fox 16-gauge Sterlingworth, which was manufactured in Philadelphia in 1922, is restored to condition similar to what it would have been in after a couple of years use by the original owner. The engraving on the action and lettering on the barrels are deep and distinct. The wood is reconditioned with a hand-rubbed stock-oil finish. The barrels are flawless as refinished using the traditional slow-rust-blue process. The color case hardening is re-done by Classic Guns, Crete, IL. Its 26 inch barrels are choked Improved Cylinder (.008) in the right barrel and Modified (.018) in the left. The wall thicknesses (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel 9” from the muzzle are .038/.038/.039 and at the middle of the barrel are .050/.051/.049. The wall thicknesses of the left barrel are .041/.041/.044 and .051/.051/.051, respectively. Chambers are 2-1/2 inch. Bores 9” from the breech are both .665”. The weight is 6 pounds 2 ounces. The drop at the comb is 1-3/4” and at the heel 2-3/4”. Length of pull from the front trigger to the end of the original buttplate is 14 inches. The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns to the right of center. The ejectors function properly. All serial numbers, 356998, match. The list price does not include shipping cost, which is paid by the buyer. The inspection period is 7 days from receipt by buyer. This gun has been fired on a number of occasions using 2-1/2” shells manufactured by RST Corporation. However, as for all vintage shotguns, it is recommended that new owner have it inspected by his or her gunsmith before firing. The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which Doublegun Preservation will have any problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun plus original and return shipping costs.
