Description:
This is a nice honest Colt 70 Series Mark IV 1911 with a factory nickel finish.  This Mark IV Series 70 Government Model is serial number 57581G70 and was manufactured in 1978.  It is an all-original gun except for the grips, which are replacement black-stained checkered Walnut.  Looking at the internals and feeling the tightness of the 1911 in general tells us that this gun has not been fired much during it's life, but appears to have been stored somewhere where it slid around and accumulated small scratches and light marring of the mirror bright finish.  Our best guess is that it was in a bedside table drawer or sock drawer that was frequently opened and closed.  All of the scratches and marring are very light and not thru the nickel finish.  Most of it could probably be polished out with some elbow grease and patience.  The bore is in excellent condition and is free from pitting or erosion.  As you can see in the pictures, the exterior of the barrel towards the muzzle shows very little wear from the factory collett bushing which is more evidence that this gun was fired very little.  The replacement checkered Walnut grips are in excellent shape, with no cracks, repairs, or soiling.  Everything on this 70 Series works 100% like the day it left Colt's factory.  The action cycles smoothly and locks up tight.  The trigger is quite good on this 1911, breaking cleanly with no grit after a smooth take-up.  If you have been looking for one of these sought-after factory nickel finish 70 Series Colts to add to your collection and to occasionally shoot, this example would be an excellent choice.
