This RARE lion head ( WITH THE FAMED SWORD MAKER NAME ON THE BACK EDGE OF THE BLADE (GUST .GUNTER METZ,EISENHAUERS,DAMASUS) , METZ HAVING MADE SWORDS FOR THE NOBILITY AND OTHER HIGH RANKING OFFICERS,this sword and scabbard has just come to me from BERLIN. This sword is amazing and the man that owned it was in one of the highest positions in the German army. This sword was made and gifted by Lt Stoebe Zulezt Oberstleutant ,to MAJOR GENERAL Paul Fischer ,when they were in the same unit, and is dated 1887. The sword has the crossed cannons, with double wire wraped ray skin grip that is perfect, a large amount of the gold wash is present on the hand guard and lion pommel and cannons. The blade is a work of art, with the Major General name, the makers name, date ,Eisenhauers. The scabbard is blacked as expected for a war time leader, the double ring hanger has bass mounts.
