This factory blued finish Colt 70 Series MK IV Government Model .45 ACP was manufactured by Colt 36 years ago in 1983. At some point during it's life it was customized by a previous owner to it's current configuration, likely in the late '80's or early '90's. The custom work on this Colt consists of lowering and flaring the ejection port, a set of aftermarket adjustable Millett target-style sights, a full length guide rod, a custom fitted Wilson's barrel bushing, a polished stainless steel extended slide stop, a polished stainless steel extended thumb safety, an extended beavertail grip safety, an aftermarket Commander-style hammer, a serrated long-style trigger, and a set of absolutely beautiful Burl Walnut grips. This Colt was put together and fit with care, resulting in a slick and attractive gun. As you can see from the pictures provided, the original Colt factory blue finish still looks good overall but shows some wear and handling marks in various places. The bore is excellent in this Colt, with nice strong rifling and no visible pitting or erosion. The aftermarket Burl grips are beauiful and in great shape overall. Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and just show light wear consistent with the rest of the pistol. All of the controls on this custom 70 Series are in perfect working order, and the slide works very smoothly on the frame without any slop or excessive play when worked by hand. The trigger is exceptional, breaking with a very light pull with no grittiness. This custom Colt 1911 comes with a 8-round Pachmayr magazine. If you have been looking for a nice Colt 1911 "shooter" for your collection here is a chance to get a nice customized 70 Series for a great price. (P.S. - We installed a new mainspring/hammer,trigger spring on 5/14/19)
