Description:

US Springfield Armory M1D Garand .30-06 semi automatic rifle, dated to 1952. This rifle is a standard M1 Garand service rifle that has been modified to accept a scope, in order to make the rifle more suitable for a sniper or designated marksman role in a combat unit. The mounting system was designed by John Garand, and consists of a mounting block on the rear of the barrel. The rear handguard is shortened and the mount attaches with a large single screw system. This particular rifle is fit with a genuine M84 rifle scope, and also includes an original flash hider which can easily be fixed to the muzzle. The rifle itself is in excellent condition, and retains many Springfield Armory parts, including the trigger group housing, safety, hammer, operating rod (with radius cut) and the bolt. The muzzle and throat were gauged using a Brownells tool, and they showed virtually no wear or erosion on the throat or the muzzle, with a measurement of 1 on the throat, and not even reaching 1 on the muzzle. The rifle includes a number of accessories, including a sling, leather cheek piece, flash hider, rubber eyepiece, and a very rare original cloth scope case, in addition to a white plastic chamber flag, rear sight cover, and charging handle cover.
