This became known as the 3rd Model, Indian Pattern, or East India Company Brown Bess. Here l present one of those 3rd Model Brown Bess’. These models were made from 1796 to 1838. Notable conflicts would have been Napoleonic Wars, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, and more. lt was also the standard infantry weapon for the Mexican Army during the Texas Revolution. Many of the Texan defenders at the Alamo would have been taken out with the 3rd Model. This particular example ls ln great shape. Lightly oxidized bore. Metal surfaces are an even gray/smokey patina. Lock marked with Royal Crown over GR. Marked “T. KETLAND & Co” rear of the cock. Walnut stock has amazing fluted combs, expected dings and dents, with a sound oval plug repair at the lower side of the buttstock.
