Description:
Winchester manufactured this attractive Model 94 SRC in 1969 to commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the completion of the east to west railroad.  There were a totel of 69,996 of these carbines made during the one year of production.  The Golden Spike 94 Carbine features a factory gold finish on the receiver, buttplate, and both barrel bands; with the receiver engraved with a scroll border on the right side, and a picture of a railroad spike and the dates "1869" and "1969" on the left side.  The Golden Spike has a gloss blue factory finish on the 20" inch round barrel, trigger, iron sights, saddle ring, loading gate, floorplate, lever, and bolt.  The factory stock set is very attractive American Walnut with a blonde finish with an commemorative medallion inlaid into right side of the buttstock.  This particular example is unfired and in excellent shape overall, but does show some handling/storage marks on from being stored in an overcrowded safe for many years.  As you can see in the pictures, any marks in the gold finish are very minor and could possibly be polished off by the new owner if he or she so chooses.  The blued parts on this rifle rate 97 to 98% and still look great.  The only deductions we can find are some traces mainly on the lever of some prior surface rust, visible only under close inspection.  The bore in this Winchester is perfect and mirror-bright.  There is no pitting, erosion, or evidence that this rifle has ever been fired since leaving the factory.  The loading gate and bolt face are pristine, as are the rest of the internals in this Golden Spike Carbine.  The factory Walnut stock set is in like-new condition.  Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any wear, cracks, chips, dents, scratches, or repairs.  The factory wood finish is 100% intact and glossy.  All of the controls on this Winchester are in perfect working order, 100% like the day this Saddle Ring Carbine left the factory 50 years ago.  This is a great example of the "Golden Spike" commemorative and would be a great addition to any gun collection.  These were built when Winchester was still building high quality firearms in the United States deserving of the firm's legendary reputation.
