Description:
Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine .44-40 WCF. The serial number of this example is 1769XXB placing date of manufacture in 1885. Overall condition is very good plus with smooth rust free metal. The finish has toned to a very nice even grey / blue. The bore is way above average with strong rifling from breech to muzzle. The bore is shiny from breech to muzzle void of any rings, bulges or damage. Light scattered pitting will be found. The bore will rate a 7.5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Caliber marking are clear on the barrel and brass follower. Wood to metal fit is perfect. The stock has normal hits and dings, no breaks or slivers missing. I did test fire this carbine with factory Remington .44-40 ammo and found it fired and function well. I found the carbine to be accurate at 100 yards with a one pound coffee can. Very nice above average "Third Model" .44-40. Please phone Tommy at (760)-912-3761 or e-mail all questions and concerns. $35.00 shipping. Insurance will be additional.
