Nice old Marlin model 1881. In desireable 45Govt cal. Gun is overall smooth brown with a pleasant looking finish remaining. Forend has slivers missing from both sides typical on these older marlins.(see photos) Forend screw is broken, No dust cover, sights appear to be original or certainly period.Markings are good. Stock has a faintly engraved wolf on one side, and under it even more faint is the words "lone wolf" Interesting ?? Bore had deep rifling but is quite frosted. Action seems to function but it will not cycle and eject a round without some help. A nice example of a big bore Marlin I think priced accordingly with its condition.
