Arisaka Type 38 rifle, caliber 6.5mm. This was the Imperial Japanese service rifle from 1906 until 1945. The type 38 was superseded by the advent of the Type 99 in 1939. This is quite a desirable example in that it is complete, it has an intact Chrysanthemum, an original sling and from both the presence of the sliding dust cover and the generally very good condition. The Japanese characters on the receiver, under the “Mum” literally translate to “Type 38”. The characters on the left side of the receiver, in front of and behind the serial number, indicate “Series 22” and “Kokura Arsenal” manufactured between 1933-1940.
