The serial number is 38260. This model 71 is absolutely new with a factory special order lyman 56 receiver sight . You will notice old dried factory grease on the sight, as well as in the bore, and action.  The box is in good shape,  except one corner came apart, and there is a hole in the bottom where the peep sight rested over the years.  All the cardboard dividers are present, as well as the wood inserts that protected the bore and butt, as well as the original manual. The label has the same serial number as the gun, and also says peep sight.  Very rare to find a model 71 new in the original box.
